The 2006 Gigondas is an outstanding effort in a much more difficult vintage. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color along with copious amounts of red and black fruits, charcoal, spring flowers, lavender, garrigue, and wet rocks. With a beautiful texture, medium to full body, decent acidity, and ripe tannin, this impeccably well made wine should drink well for 5-6 years.

Still quite young, with ample toast to absorb, though the core of crushed plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit is ample enough. Black tea and roasted apple wood frame the fleshy, rounded finish. Should stretch out with a touch more cellaring. Best from 2010 through 2012. 200 cases made.
