Details

Salexis Wines began as a 20 year dream for John Gibson. While working as winemaker for family owned wineries and vineyards such as Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Vine Cliff Winery, Snowden Vineyards, Frazier Winery, Rockledge Vineyards, Andrew Geoffrey Vineyards, Beckstoffer Vineyards, and Gerber Vineyards, John found himself among some great fruit. In 1998, when some of the best Merlot grapes in the valley were made available from Snowden Vineyards, his dream came true. Thus the first vintage of Salexis Wines was produced. About 240 cases were made of that vintage. About 500 cases of this wine was made annually until 2004 which was the last vintage of Merlot. Salexis now concentrates their efforts on the making of Chardoney and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Produced from one of the smallest Cabernet Sauvignon crops in recent years, the 2006 Salexis Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits the aromas and flavors of raspberries, cedar, chocolate, and toasty French oak. Styled for early consumption, the wine is well balanced with soft tannins and a long lingering finish. This wine will pair well with all red meat dishes.
