A mere two barrel’s worth of Remoissenet estate 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Poissenot strikes by now familiar themes of bright red fruit and pungent, bittersweet citrus oils, with nutmeg and white pepper adding to the vibratory exchange of spice, berry, zest, and chalky, saline, as well as peaty mineral notes that constitute this wine’s memorable finish. This is one of those 2008s that accentuates the wind-concentrated nature of the vintage, coming as it does from a breezeway high up and far back into the Combe de Lavaux. Rovani says Remoissenet were just about the last in this commune to pick in 2008, and this is about as cool a spot as you can get in that commune (the Les Verroilles is last-back into the Combe). I would expect this to be fascinating to follow for at least 10-12 years.
