Firm in texture and lean on balance, with savory spice and roasted meat overtones to the modest berry flavors. Best after 2012.
Details
Waterbrook Winery was founded in 1984 by Eric and Janet Rindal and is located in Washington State's lovely Walla Walla Valley. This name was chosen to complement the translation from Nez Perce Indian dialect for the name Walla Walla, meaning "running water". Production has slowly increased to a total of 30,000 cases annually.
The 2008 Waterbrook Merlot is a blend of 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged in oak barrels (50% new oak) for 20 months. Plum blossom and soft talc make for a pleasant nose backed up by cinnamon, date and fig flavors, appearing modestly amongst juicy ripe black cherry and boysenberry gliding into a seamless finish.
