This is even earthier and more obviously Gevrey in character with a deeply pitched and pungently sauvage dark berry fruit nose. There is excellent concentration to the mouth coating, somber and very serious flavors that terminate in an overtly austere finish. This should be excellent if given 6 to 8 years of cellar time. The Champerrier bottling from Domaine Tortochot comes from the oldest vines the estate owns, plated by Felix Tortochot in 1920. It is elegant and pure with currant, floral and earth aromas that complement the delightfully intense, complex flavors with really excellent length.
