The single vineyard Pinot Noirs begin with the 2009 Pinot Noir Roots Estate Vineyard. Cedar, spice box, floral notes, cherry, and boysenberry aromas inform the nose of a succulent, elegant, nicely proportioned wine that will provide pleasure for another 5-7 years.
Details
The 2009 Roots Pinot Noir Estate comes from Chris Berg's 6.5 acre vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton district of Oregon's Willamette Valley. It shows whiffs of dark and black fruits and hints of cola nut resonate from the glass. The colors emanating from the glass form a purple-hued cauldron of spice and fine-grain tannin, and as the wine cascades in the mouth, flavors catch hold on the palate sails to a crisp finish. Chris Berg is making some of Oregon's best Pinots, but pricing them well below their peers.
