2006 Outpost Petite Sirah Howell Mountain
Our [Petite] consists again of three blocks: Upper Park, Lower Park, and some "Other" clone planted in the old vine Zinfandel. The Park clones always contribute the classic mountain spices of white pepper, clove and sage and the "Other" clone adds some richness and polish to their more savage profile. - Thomas Rivers Brown

2007 Outpost Grenache Howell Mountain
90 Points - The Wine Advocate
The 2007 Grenache, (which includes 60% whole clusters) from their Howell Mountain vineyards, exhibits classic aromas of kirsch, licorice, and spice as well as a medium ruby, evolved color that suggests a relatively diluted wine, but that is not the case at all. This expansive, round, generous Grenache is meant to be consumed over the next 3-4 years. - Robert Parker

2007 Outpost Zinfandel Howell Mountain
92-94 Points - International Wine Cellar
Bright ruby-red. Knockout nose offers red and darker berries lifted by ginger, flowers and pepper. Juicy and intense; a real essence of zinfandel fruit, with superb clarity and spicy lift to the crushed berry flavors. This really coats the mouth without leaving any impression of weight. The very long, juicy, bright finish features a fine dusting of tannins and resounding fruit. Aged entirely in Burgundy barrels, 25% new. This sample was enough to restore my faith in zinfandel. - Stephen Tanzer

2006 Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain
92 Points - The Wine Advocate
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain avoids the hard tannin and monolithic character that can be found in some 2006 Cabernets. Pure black raspberry, black currant, graphite, and subtle spicy oak dominate the aromatics. Full body, an admirable texture, a layered mouthfeel, and a long finish suggest this 2006 can be drunk now or cellared for a decade or more - Robert Parker
